It is always amusing to me that anytime I have ever drawn a dragon, I usually get at least a few comments saying it looks like the design of such and such. Some are just making a comparison but other's are just down right militant about this which I find terribly amusing. My dragons have always been heavily inspired by dinosaurs and other paleocreatures that at one time actually lived on our planet. I see a lot of other artists use these concepts similarly then get all huffy about anybody "stealing" the concept from them. Which again, just makes me laugh.
For my latest dragon piece here:

This is a list of just some of the paleo-creatures I borrowed design elements from:
Archaeopteryx, Baronyx, Gorgonopsids (Inostrancevia, Lycaenops), Coelophysis, Deinonychus, Microraptor, Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor
And here is a list of Dragon artists, here and elsewhere who use some of these same concepts too, to good effect:
DA Artist:
Ahkahna, Alkahla, Humingbird, Kilara, Nambroth, Nara87, Sardiryx (Skysealer), Shinerai
Others:
Windstone Dragons (by Melody Peña)
Who ever designed the dragon for the movie "Dragonheart"
And hate to say it but that twerp, Christopher Paolini too, or who ever actually drew the dragons.
I'm sure we could spend all day adding to this list. So again, anybody saying I "stole" any designs from anybody else is just pretty silly.
Then there are horses! EGADS... a galloping horse is pretty much the same no matter who is drawing it.
I, fortunately, am at such a low level, I don't think I have anything to worry about (though yes, even my fuzzy dragons have some inspiration from dinosuars and the like as well, though lately I've been leaning toward asian dragons a lot)
I just stopped posting my stuff here.
Real sad thing: "Cat" apparently got her friends to hares "Dina" of no less than two different art galleries... Poor girl simply left rather than taking all the hate messages.
The real classic within the furry community seems to be someone trying to take copyright of the colour-combination yellow and blue for a specific species (can't remember which, but it was one of the very popular ones).
Sorry about you getting all the "rip-off" problems thrown at you, though. Those can be a real hassle. :/
always someone will say "looks like such and such's design" and its always rude
plus everyone can see when a concept is actually stolen or when a well known artist is just throwing a hissy fit
Really? Then what was the point of that being their only comment towards the piece? 'Oh, this look's like so-and-so's character' and nothing more.
I think people are getting a little too uptight in this apparent game of 'let's see who can make the most original design!!111' and then sic their little minions on anyone who came up with a similar concept.
Bah.
